Psychology Book Club
The aim of this book club is to bring together and to learn about different disciplines, challenge preconceptions and to examine our own way of working within mental health and with patients / clients. We hope that this provides a forum to learn from each other. We welcome professionals and trainees from disciplines such as psychotherapy, psychiatry, psychology and other related professions. Students are also very welcomed.
As an alternative we can also run a book club via Skype if you wish to join from outside of Manchester or abroad. The three selected books for 2014 are: Crazy Therapies: What are they? Do they work? by Margaret Thaler Singer and Janja Lalich
The Suspended Revolution: Psychology and Psychiatry Re-examined by David Healy
A History of Psychiatry: From the Era of the Asylum to the Age of Prozac by Edward Shorter Dates: 21.09.2014, 19.10.2014, 16.11.2014 The contribution for each set of three meetings is £15 (£5 per meeting to cover costs and refreshments.
